My Mom and I made this ice cream cake to celebrate Oliver giving up his binky! (Those were his terms; a super hero cake for saying goodbye to the binky.)
I may be biased but my kids say some pretty freakin' cute, hysterical, sweet things. So this part of my blog is dedicated to just that.
Christmas 2009: We had a WONDERFUL Christmas last year. We were very fortunate. I anxiously waited downstairs by the tree for the boys to come down and find that Santa had come. Oliver, unable to contain his emotions and confused about how to express them, spent the whole morning running around, yelling "Excited, Momma! Excited!"Oliver, Age 2
Nana and I took Collin to see The Princess & The Frog during her Christmas visit ('09). Right after the "princess" kisses the frog and turns into a frog herself, Collin leaned over, kissed my arm and said, "After you turn into a frog, will you kiss me so I can be a frog too?"Collin, Age 4
I have this rather rotund teddy bear, named Goober. He was my roommate during my stay in the hospital with Oliver. One of my nurses had bought him for me and he was a huge comfort. One night, while Collin was particularly terrified that there was a mouse in the house, I gave him the bear to make him feel better. I told him Goober isn't afraid of mice and should he see one, he'll growl at him and scare them away. Collin carried Goober around with him for the rest of the night and after closer inspection, determined that he was so round in the belly because, "There's a baby in there!"Collin, Age 4
Collin unfortunately caught a glimpse of one of the commercials during the Super Bowl this year. In the Doritos commercial, a guy throws a Dorito chip, ninja-star-like into another guys neck; to which Collin exclaims, "Didn't see that one comin'!" Collin, Age 4
Oliver may just have a future as a stand up comedian. He's just so stinkin' cute that it really doesn't matter if the punch line makes sense. Recently he picked up the famous Banana/Orange Knock Knock joke from Collin but when Oliver tells it, it goes like this:
You can see a video of this cuteness HERE. Oliver, Age 2
While loading the dishwasher, I had sent Oliver to the bathroom to go potty. A few minutes later I hear, "Momma! Wipe my ass! Momma!" Now, we certainly don't encourage this kind of talk and I DID explain to him that someone his age should refer to it as a butt, hiney, or rear but I had to include this on my blog ... if only for "shits and giggles." Oliver, Age 2
Keeping with the trend of cursing toddlers, I'll now share another story. Oliver had also picked up a few "lovely" name-calling curse words. I explained to him SO many times that those were "BAD WORDS" that now, when he is particularly upset with someone he says to them, "You're a bad word!" Well, it's a step in the right direction. Oliver, Age 2
My boys LOVE my "Snow Covered Toast" (French Toast with Confectioners Sugar). Oliver harassed me in the kitchen asking, "Is it done yet?" while I cooked. After several "Not yet" replies, dinner was finally done. Oliver responded with a very loud, "Come to Poppa!"Oliver, Age 2
The great thing about 4 year olds is that they say some completely random things. Today, Collin went up to Ryan and said, "When I'm bigger, all the hot ladies will kiss me!" If that wasn't enough, when I asked him where he had heard such a thing, he replied, "From the hot ladies."Collin, Age 4
Collin recently received an early birthday present, a pet hamster he named Toodles. I was explaining to Collin that Toodles is NOCTURNAL. Collin looked at me as though I had three heads and replied, "I know it's 'NOTATURTLE' it's a hamster." Eventually we were on the same page. Collin, Age 4
Collin:"Are you a crazy person?" Me: "What are you talking about?" Collin: "In The Princess & The Frog they said that only crazy people wish on stars so I'm a crazy person." Me (LoL): "Well, I guess that makes me a crazy person too." :) Collin, Age 4
Collin says (after I kiss him on the forehead), "You know .... you should give me a hug with that kiss." Awe ..... -Collin, Age 4
I over hear Ryan say to Oliver, "Today is Mother's Day, go tell Mommy happy Mother's Day." Oliver comes running up to me and says, "Happy Birthday, Momma!" LoL Close enough! Made my day! Oliver, Age 2
I received an email from Victoria's Secret that had thumbnails of magazine covers with women in bikinis. I didn't realize Oliver had seen it until he creeped over my shoulder, pointed to the girl on the cover and said, "I want that. I want that hot lady." Clearly he has spent too much time with his father! Oliver, Age 2
Collin and Oliver were doing a 50 piece puzzle together. -An easy task for Collin but obviously not for Oliver. But with Collin's help, they were getting it done. Then, I hear Collin say to Oliver, "No, that doesn't go there. I'm the puzzle genius!" and moments later, "Just listen to me, you're not the puzzle genius." I guess we need to add the word 'humble' to Collin's vocabulary. :P Collin, Age 5
"Um, Mom? I think I'm going to marry you when I grow up." Collin, Age 5
Oliver approaches me in his cowboy gear while I'm brushing my hair, he looks at the dog and says, "Howdy, partner" then looks to me and says, "Hey pretty lady." -Oliver, Age 2
My name is Heather and I'm a Mom. I have been married for more than 5 years to my radio DJ husband, Ryan. We have two incredible boys. Collin is 5 and Oliver is 2. Collin is my preschooler. He loves being creative, using his imagination, and all things Mario. He'll do just about anything for an M&M and has the biggest heart! Oliver will always be my baby, my "sunshine" and my "I love you." He was a preemie born on his Daddy's birthday. He LOVES coloring, being everywhere his big brother is, and NOT sleeping! :P Life is a verb and it's definitely happening here!
